Guardianship is a proceeding either for an adult who is incompetent to take care of himself, i.e., take a shower, feed himself and attend the bathroom on his own, and/or take care of his finances and pay his own bills.

Additionally, Guardianships are for those who are retarded or developmentally disabled, who needs a competent adult to make decisions for him.
